A Eucharistic Hymn
A Hymn for the Eucharist which sums up my Theology
Tune Londonderry Air
We meet here now, just as our Lord commanded,
To celebrate His blessed Eucharist.
We meet in awe, in wonder and in holiness,
To share the bread, the wine at this great Feast.
Our Lord is here, his presence is a mystery
The drama of his passion here unfolds.
We re - present our Lord, we share his suffering
And so the story of his love again is told.
So gather round his table, all are welcome,
Come young and old, come happy, sad, or hurt.
We meet together, bring our deepest feelings,
We are accepted just the way we are.
He loves us all, the rich, the poor the desperate,
He loves all those who are in deep despair;
We share together at his Holy table
The love of God, the love of Him who 's always here.
So bring your joys, your pain your utmost suffering,
Your loss, your grief, your true and holy self
For you are worthy, you are truly welcome
Did not our God create you as you are.
So come and share in this His Holy banquet,
His feast prepared for you and all who'll come.
Come celebrate with bread and wine together
His gift to us of body and of precious blood.
His body crucified is here presented ;
What memories flood into our visions now.
This wine we taste it is our awesome Calvary
We see him there once more upon that tree.
That awful mystery has shown his gift to us
To those who would but understand, are free
To love and serve their neighbours all around the world
So come and share, this Sacrament, this mystery .
